350 homes coming to Homebase site in Acton

Housing Developer Barratt Homes are looking to build 350 homes at the Homebase superstore site in Acton according to a screening opinion put before Ealing Council, with the tallest element at 16-storeys.

Plans for housing at Acton Homebase

It’s predominantly envisaged as a car-free development. A food supermarket is planned on the ground floor with 70 car parking spaces plus 89 spaces for residents.

Can the junction beside cope with an increase in traffic? How many people will be overseen by the tallest parts of the building?

The planning reference is 177472SCE

Are they completely raving mad? It’s bad enough getting through that junction in rush hour now – let alone with a supermarket and residents taking children to school! This site has been single storey ever since I can remember (Barbara Speake Stage School before Homebase). Any development should echo the other 3 corners of the junction. This is mass over development and must not be allowed!

Barbara Speake Stage School is situated on East Acton lane. Before Texas/Homebase was built, there was a huge pub.
