British Land have plans to rebuild a major part of Ealing’s main shopping centre. The facade facing the Broadway will be entirely replaced.
It’s a shame as I’m quite partial to the existing 70s/80s styled design with a touch of gothic.
The reflective glass looks great on a sunny day, casting the blue sky back to those walking by.
The replacement looks much more sterile and rather dull:
The reason for the change is planned conversion of upper floors to flats. 500 are planned in total.
Developers British Land have also recently purchased the site next door at 10-40 The Broadway.
