Massive Greenford site flattened for huge new development

The huge expanse of land that will see 2,000 new homes built has been cleared by developers Greystar.

Greenford Green has been long in planning and formally housed a Glaxo Smith-Kline factory.

Of 2,000+ homes, 1500 are for rent and 546 for sale. Just 30% are so-called “affordable”.

The site is slightly closer to Greenford Central Line station than Sudbury Hill Piccadilly Line station.

Chiltern also operate a skeleton service of just one train per hour from Sudbury Hill.

The Central Line will inevitably become more crowded – especially with the development marketed towards workers in central London. Greenford station does have a Great Western Rail shuttle to West Ealing station for Crossrail – yet the shuttle has very low frequencies every 30 minutes and short two-carriage trains.

There will be 837 car parking spaces meaning many residents will be reliant on public transport.

The development will include a two-form entry primary school and nursery, as well as 15,000 sq m of retail / office / dining space for residents.
